Last week Cyprotex opened its new high throughput laboratory at its facility in Watertown, MA near Boston in the USA. This replicates the highly successful high throughput capabilities at Cyprotex’s Macclesfield site in the UK. Both sites utilise Cyprotex’s proprietary LIMS (laboratory information management system) known as LabsysTM. LabsysTM has been developed internally at Cyprotex over a period of 16 years through close collaboration between our scientists and software engineers to develop an unrivalled system to improve the efficiency, speed and quality of ADME screening. Cyprotex are able to pass on these efficiencies to its clients allowing us to compete with the Asian CRO market for larger scale deals.
“The goal was to duplicate the high throughput ADME capabilities that already existed in the Macclesfield site because of increasing demands from local clients. The lab itself had already been planned,” said Jon Gilbert, Executive Director of US Operations. “This provided an opportunity to build it out, get the instrumentation in place, validate the protocols against both internal and external data, and finally transfer the assay. The biggest challenge was actually getting the instruments into the lab. We had to remove a window and use a crane because they wouldn’t fit in any of the elevators.”
Both our UK and US sites employ high experienced scientists who not only keep you up-to-date with progress of the study but engage in active scientific communication in order to assist with study design and the interpretation of the data. We are able to adapt protocols to meet specific requirements and deliver data so it can be seamlessly uploaded into our client’s databases.
